Tossa de Mar’s Platja Gran beach is just a short stroll from Hotel URH Vila de Tossa, which offers a relaxed stay in the modern area of this historic town. Located on a tree-lined avenue, the hotel occupies a functional building with a terracotta façade, and is a 5-minute walk from the ruined Roman villa of Els Ametllers. The “picturesque village of crooked, narrow streets” (Lonely Planet) that make up Tossa’s old town, known for its medieval walls and art-filled Municipal Museum, is a 10-minute walk away, whilst the lively coastal resort of Lloret de Mar is about a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Girona, “with its brooding hilltop castle, soaring cathedral, and dreamy riverside setting” (Fodor’s) is 40 minutes drive away, and Barcelona, packed with history, culture and buzzing nightlife, takes about 90 minutes to reach by car.
Hotel URH Vila de Tossa opens to a lobby area with traditional tiled floors, marble wall accents and bold striped sofas. There’s a restaurant and a café/bar, and guests can relax on the hotel’s roof terrace, which features a hot tub with panoramic town views. Massage services are available for a fee.
Opening to balconies, the classic guestrooms are decorated in warm earth tones with ornate bedheads, and include free Wi-Fi, TVs and mini fridges. Higher tariff rooms add extra space, terraces and hydromassage tubs, and there’s one room with a canopied bed. Room service is provided.
