Overview
Many of Riga’s most notable sights are within walking distance of the high-end Gallery Park Hotel & Spa, set between the city’s historic Art Nouveau district and it’s medieval Old Town. This city-centre hotel occupies a 19th-century mansion with a colourful neoclassical exterior, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, and is located within a 5-minute walk of both Elizabeth Street, lined with ornate 1800s buildings, and the Latvian National Museum of Art. The landmark Freedom Monument, symbolising the nation’s independence, is 10 minutes’ walk away, whilst both St Peter’s Church offering panoramic city views, and the bustling Central Market are within 20 minutes’ walk of the hotel.
Gallery Park Hotel & Spa’s grand façade gives way to dramatic, opulent interiors, including a wood-panelled lobby lounge featuring handmade gold embossed leather walls, carved oak furniture from Russia and 100-year-old French floor lamps. There’s an elegant restaurant serving a seasonal menu, a 24/7 bar decorated with period artwork and colourful stained glass, and a wine cellar offering Old and New World vintages, and guests can relax in the spa, finished with mosaics and Italian stone and offering an indoor pool, a gym and a sauna, as well as a range of massage and beauty treatments (fees apply). Extras such as sightseeing tours, dog walking and a personal butler can be arranged for a surcharge.
The hotel’s guestrooms and suites are decorated either in a polished, modern style or have a refined, traditional feel. All include free Wi-Fi, TVs and minibars, plus bathrooms with heated floors and designer toiletries, whilst higher tariff rooms offer park or garden views, and some add sitting areas. Classic 19th century-inspired suites, some with balconies, come with antique furnishings, works by Latvian artists and complimentary fruit, and contemporary-design suites have details such as living rooms, glass partitions and skylights. Top-level suites include touches such as antique fireplaces, marble bathrooms, personal assistants and private terraces. Room service is available.
