Hello Lisbon Castelo Apartments' main selling point is its location right in front of a tram stop in Lisbon's Alfama district. One of the city's oldest neighbourhoods, Alfama has a "distinct village atmosphere", characterised by "narrow lanes of residential houses and grocery stores", says Lonely Planet. A steep 5-minute climb from the blue-painted apartment block up winding alleyways leads to Castelo de São Jorge, a Moorish castle on a hilltop with stunning views of the city and the Atlantic Ocean.
The Museu do Fado, chronicling the history of traditional Portuguese song, and the 17th-century Palácio Azurara, home to the Museum of Decorative Arts, are a both less than 10 minutes' stroll away. It's about a 20-minute taxi ride to both Bairro Alto, Lisbon's trendy nightlife area, and Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga art museum, and 30 minutes by car from the district of Belém at the mouth of the River Tagus, and its landmark 16th-century tower.
Accessed via a 24-hour virtual reception area, the studios and 1-bedroom apartments sleep up to four people and have a bright and contemporary design, with pale wood floors and original artwork by local artists. Each has a kitchen, a dining area, free Wi-Fi and a TV, while higher-tariff studios add a balcony and a living area with a sofabed. Apartments offer separate living rooms, while some have sloping wood-beamed ceilings and views of the Tagus. Other amenities include laundry facilities and luggage storage.
