Eden Locke is a new design-led apartment hotel on George Street in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town, walking distance from dozens of shops, restaurants and bars.
Edinburgh Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the top of the Old Town, is 15 minutes' walk from the hotel; be sure to tour the whole site, and don't miss the Honours of Scotland -- crown jewels that date from the 15th century. The Scottish National Gallery and neighbouring Royal Academy are 10 minutes' walk away, while Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament, at the foot of the Royal Mile, are around 25 minutes' walk from the hotel.
Towering over the palace is Arthur's Seat, a 250-metre-high extinct volcano where you can take in views of the city and the Firth of Forth. Less imposing, but easier to climb, is Calton Hill, which has excellent city views and several iconic monuments, including the Acropolis-style National Monument and the Burns Monument.
Eden Locke's spacious studios are minimalist and contemporary in design, and each has a fully equipped kitchen with utensils and cookware. All rooms come with shower and body products created for Eden Locke, plus tea, fresh milk and bottled water. Other amenities include a smart TV and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has an artisanal coffee shop and a purist bar, which serves a selection of hand-picked high-quality liquor and craft beer.
As part of its Locke Cultural Programme, the hotel hosts monthly events to promote wellbeing and happiness. Classes are free for guests and include wine tasting, yoga and meditation.
