Why We Love It

  • Modern touches at this hotel, named after Her Majesty, include Apple TVs with free Netflix movies in some rooms

The historic Hotel Victoria is tucked amid the modern high-rises of Toronto's Financial District. Named after Queen Victoria, the hotel started welcoming guests in 1909 and was rejuvenated with more modern design touches in 2011.

Past guests rave about the location. Shopping, dining and some of the city's top attractions are within minutes of the hotel on foot: the Hockey Hall of Fame, Sony Centre for the Arts, St. Lawrence Market and the Air Canada Centre, just to name a few. For further exploration, the King Street subway is a few steps outside the hotel's front door. On-site, guests can refuel at the popular and well-reviewed Over Easy restaurant for breakfast and lunch (open 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.).

Guest rooms feature modern, custom-designed furniture, new beds and oversized bathtubs. All rooms provide free Wi-Fi. Upgrading to a Business or Deluxe room adds more space and free in-room Netflix movies through Apple TV.

There is no on-site fitness centre nor parking; however, the hotel can provide area recommendations for parking (rates start at CA$30 per day) and guests have 24/7 access to an off-site fitness facility.

The location and the boutique "feel". It was also quiet!

Beds were comfortable, room was a good size, location was very close to Union Station .... walkable with luggage.
Other Comments
We were given a room at the front of the hotel facing Yonge St. The noise of traffic, sirens, cars without mufflers, etc kept me awake the majority of the night. It was Saturday night, so there is bound to be lots of partying downtown, however, something should be done to keep the noise out of the room. OR don't put guests in the front rooms on weekends.

Location, clean, comfortable and friendly

The hotel was clean, modern and charming.
Other Comments
The price of a queen room was the same as others of similar quality offering a king bed. The bed was quite hard, very uncomfortable and squeaked every time you rolled over....not what I would expect from a hotel charging almost $300/night. Also, our "urban view" was actually the alley way where the dumpsters were kept, which I understand is unavoidable in a downtown setting, but let's just be honest and not call it a "view" at all.

Good location. Very quiet even though it was on a busy street
Other Comments
Rooms were lovely with wood floors high ceilings and very comfortable beds. The air conditioner was noisy and we were at the back of hotel. Rooms were dark. I would have enjoyed it more with a room facing the street

The location was easy walk from Union Station...close to the ACC to cheer on the Raptors...close to the Eaton Centre...close to the St.Lawrence Market. The woman at the front desk, Tamara, was outstanding. She made our stay especially special. Wonderful employee!!!
