Overview

The Grosvenor Hotel is a spectacular Victorian property within walking distance of many London attractions, including Buckingham Palace and St James’s Park which are 10 minutes away. This former railway hotel, which has impressive French Renaissance inspired décor, is next door to London Victoria and has its own private entrance to the station.

This property is around the corner from the Victoria Palace Theatre, and Chelsea, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are 20 minutes' walk away. If you want to venture further, you can jump on the underground -- Victoria is on the District, Circle and Victoria lines.

The Grosvenor Hotel is a Grade-II listed building which was built by railway pioneers in 1862. The Daily Telegraph describes the property as "theatrical," noting the "imperial staircase made from heavily-veined marble, thickly gilded walls, and duck-green pilasters topped with moulds of roaring lions." The hotel's drawing room, which is where afternoon tea is served, features tall ceilings, arched windows and is decorated with oil paintings of 19th-century aristocracy.

The hotel's Grand Imperial London restaurant serves Cantonese food, but you can also eat and drink at the Grosvenor Arms, which is less formal. The rooms all have iPod docks and air conditioning. Wi-Fi is free throughout and there's a gym, and 24-hour room service is available.

Beautiful room and in a lovely old hotel.

Nice to have the old traditional feel of the building but the modern fittings in the rooms. Also enjoyed the selection of bars and eateries in the hotel. And it is quiet despite being located in a busy (and convenient) part of London.

When asked why we were in London I mentioned it was my boyfriends birthday. After we came back from a day out there was a birthday cake and a message from the staff. Really nice touch.

The room was good, clean and comfy. The bed and pillows were the best we have ever experienced in a hotel or rented holiday place.
Other Comments
We did not have any hot water and were not able to wash properly on the day we left, even though we asked for it to be rectified. The manager was sympathetic and gave us a 20% refund. Breakfast was not hot and some of the food containers were empty, the sauce bottles were all empty. Next time we would order from the menu and get it made to order. We did not get our complimentary sparkling wine on arrival.
