The Novotel Athenes is a 4-star hotel with a rooftop pool offering views of the Acropolis. It is in the north of Athens, a 10-minute walk from the National Archaeological Museum, which has "the finest collection of Greek antiquities anywhere in the world" (Rough Guides).
The area has good transport links -- the hotel is 10 minutes' walk from the main railway station, which offers Metro connections to Plaka, Athens's touristy old town, and the Acropolis Museum in around 20 minutes. Museums in the Kolonáki area -- such as the Benaki Museum, "Greece's finest private museum" (Lonely Planet); the War Museum; the Byzantine and Christian Museum; and the National Gallery -- are a 20-minute bus ride away.
Nov'Agora, the hotel's Mediterranean-style restaurant, has a show kitchen and serves daily lunch and dinner. The other option is the Clair de Lune rooftop restaurant, which offers dinner accompanied by excellent views of the Acropolis (summer only). There's also a pool bar for coffees, snacks and cocktails, and a fitness centre.
Rooms are modern, and some have views of the Acropolis. Options include a spacious Superior Room, an Executive Room with a Nespresso coffee machine or a 2-bedroom Suite.
