"The meals were excellent! The breakfast was included with the room and was a full, hot breakfast, made to order and even included "appetizers" of yogurt with berries and granola, a small fruit salad and fresh croissant, banana bread, corn-bread or cheese bun, while you waited for the main course. We enjoyed an evening dinner as well as a lunch. Both were very well prepared and delicious. The room was on the second floor of the main building and included a jetted two-person tub in a separate sitting area as well as a fireplace and large screen TV. We had a queen-sized bed which was very comfortable."

Overview

This country inn is a cornerstone of Bayfield. Opened in 1847, it’s one of the oldest hotels around, surrounded by the town's bustling shops and restaurants. A five-minute walk to Clan Gregor Square puts you in the middle of the charming lakeside town, and Bayfield Main Beach is a 10-minute walk away.

Guests can relax on the two-storey porch, which is covered and adorned with Victorian trim, or have a pint at the Four in Hand Tap Room, which serves up Ontario craft beers paired with casual lunch or dinner fare. The Willow Room’s elegant dining room, with exposed brick and dark wood furniture, can be rented out for small weddings, and features Huron County produce for breakfast and for dinner.

Carriage rooms in the main inn have all the expected amenities and come with bathrobes. They are decorated with antique furniture and fluffy linens. Select suites have separate living areas, some with fireplaces or Jacuzzis. The Guest Cottage has loft-style suites, each with a private patio, whirlpool tub and cozy seating areas. Parking and Wi-Fi are complimentary for all guests of the hotel.

My only complaints would be the noise level at times and perhaps the AC. About the noise level: The gap under the room door was at least 3/4" high so any doors closing in the hall way, or conversations, carried into our room as if we had our door open! However, we didn't encounter any late night disruptions, thankfully. It was merely when people were either entering their rooms or walking along the hallway that we heard the noise. With respect to the AC, the temperature is controlled by the building, not by the room guests, so it could potentially be an issue for some folks finding it too warm or too cool. We were quite comfortable except for perhaps an hour in mid-afternoon when it felt as though it was getting a little stuffy.
