Hôtel Joséphine is a charming boutique hotel at the foot of Montmartre, described as "the most unabashedly romantic part of Paris" by Time Out. Explore its narrow winding streets and climb the steep stairs or take the funicular to the top, where you can visit the Sacré-Coeur and take in some of the best views of the city.
The hotel also makes a good base for exploring the city's sights. The Musée de la Vie Romantique (dedicated to Romantic-era artists) is just around the corner, the Musée National Gustave Moreau is a 10-minute walk, and the Palais Garnier opera house is 15 minutes away on foot. City-centre attractions, like the Musée du Louvre (home to Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa"), the Jardins des Tuileries and the Grand Palais, can be reached in around 25 minutes via the Metro -- Blanche station is less than five minutes' walk away.
The hotel is named after Josephine Baker, the celebrated 1920s cabaret artist -- fitting as the Moulin Rouge cabaret club and Pigalle's trendy bars and nightlife are not far away. In keeping with the theme, the hotel's décor is influenced by '20s style, and guests are treated to free cocktails and appetisers from 6-8pm, daily. A breakfast buffet is served from 7-10:30am.
Rooms are colourful and small, as is often the case in Paris. Walls are decorated with floral wallpaper and black-and-white photos of cabaret artists from the '20s and '30s. All have free Wi-Fi, and some have balconies.
