The family-owned Kelham House Country Manor Hotel is in Kelham village, not far from Newark-on-Trent. Its 12 bedrooms are split between the coach house and the main house, which is an impressive brick-built Edwardian building with large sash windows. The house sits in nine acres of wooded grounds and is within easy reach of the A1 and A46.
The castle ruins, shops and restaurants of riverside Newark-on-Trent are a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Nottingham's city centre is around 22 miles away, and Lincoln, with its historic castle and cathedral, is a similar distance from the hotel.
The hotel is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and its picturesque setting makes it a popular venue for weddings. Its purpose-built Garden Room has a private bar and can cater for up to 150 people. The Kitchen Garden Restaurant uses fresh local produce, and serves dinner from Monday to Saturday (booking is recommended). The hotel bar, which serves a separate brasserie-style menu in a less formal setting, is open from Monday to Saturday.
Some upgraded rooms offer extras including Nespresso coffee machines and fresh-fruit baskets. Pets are allowed in some ground-floor coach-house rooms for an additional charge.
