The Hotel Keilir is in Keflavik, a convenient base for Keflavik International Airport and for exploring the natural attractions of the Reykjanes Peninsula. The airport, which is Iceland's main international transport hub, is just a 15-minute drive away. The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa complex, which was named as one National Geographic's 25 Wonders of the World, is around 20 kilometres from the hotel.
The dramatic Gardskagi headland, which is one of Iceland's premier spots for birdwatching is approximately 10 kilometres away. If you're lucky, from the headland, you might even catch a glimpse of the whales and seals that are sometimes spotted there. Viking World, which has a replica Viking ship and a museum exploring the history and lifestyle of the Vikings of the North Atlantic, is less than five kilometres from the hotel.
Cosmopolitan Reykjavik is around 45 kilometres from Hotel Keilir. There are good public transport links between Keflavik Airport and the Icelandic capital.
The hotel itself is on the main street in Keflavik, just a stone's throw from the waterfront. There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but there's a bar on the ground floor. The hotel provides a continental buffet breakfast. Simple rooms are clean and comfortable, and some have ocean views.
