The
hotel is just around the corner from Warwick Avenue underground station, on the
Bakerloo line. Heathrow Airport is 30 minutes from the hotel by taxi and also accessible by rail
-- take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station, 15 minutes from the hotel
on foot or by underground train. It’s an hour by taxi from Gatwick Airport. The
journey by public transport also takes an hour -- take a train to London
Bridge, then the Jubilee line to Baker Street and the Bakerloo line to Warwick
Avenue. London City Airport is 30 minutes from the hotel by taxi, and the
journey takes a little longer by DLR and underground train.
"A charmer in lovely Little Venice," says Lonely Planet, The Colonnade is a cozy, Victorian hotel in a leafy neighborhood. This is where Sigmund Freud lived after he first emigrated from Vienna in the 1940s, and, despite the hotel’s grand townhouse décor, it still feels like a comfortable home-away-from-home.
Known for its picturesque canals, London’s Little Venice is a "tranquil pocket" (Time Out) to the north of Hyde Park. It's an easy walk from the world-famous Lord’s Cricket Ground, with the London Zoo and the open-air theater in Regent's Park just a few minutes farther. Notting Hill and Portobello Road Market are half an hour away on foot, and the hotel makes a peaceful sanctuary after a day of exploring London's best shops and markets. Warwick Avenue tube station (on the Bakerloo line) is just around the corner, providing easy access to Bond Street and the West End in 20 minutes.
The hotel has a small restaurant for breakfast and traditional British fare, like bangers and mash and fish and chips. Meals are served from 7am until 10pm, and afternoon tea is also available. In the evening, guests are received in the elegant lounge, where there’s a classic Wedgwood fireplace and you can mingle over a glass of vintage port.
Each room has been individually designed and features sumptuous fabrics and Victorian-era antiques. Duplex suites on the lower floor have soaring ceilings and four-poster beds, but you may hear occasional rumbles from passing Underground trains. An original turn-of-the-century elevator delivers guests to the upper floors, where rooms have views over the residential rooftops and leafy trees. Black-out curtains ensure a peaceful night’s sleep, and free bottled water is provided in every room.

The bar staff need training. Could not prepare an Irish Coffee or a hot chocolate with Baileys and when we asked for 2 single shot Baileys they tried to overcharge us. It was all resolved with apologies but it unnecessarily took up our time and theirs

Period decor and ambience.
Other Comments
Mid price room was very spacious. Some furnishings a little tired. Plentiful hot water. Room heating hard to control.

Reception staff not really on top of it so booking in and out was too long.
