Why We Love This Hotel
- Newly renovated boutique hotel near the Grands Boulevards, "the city's shopping epicenter" (Fodor's)
- Walking distance from the Palais Garnier opera house
- 25 minutes by direct Metro from the Eiffel Tower
Hôtel d'Espagne is a cozy boutique hotel, set on a quiet side street just off the Grands Boulevards in the center of Paris. The property re-opened a few months ago following a complete renovation, and is close to the city's "grands magasins" (department stores) and a 15-minute walk from the Palais Garnier opera house -- made famous by Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera.
The location is very central, sandwiched between the city's financial district to the south and Montmartre to the north. Don't miss "les passages couverts" -- traditional covered arcades filled with boutiques, cafés and restaurants. The nearest is the Passage Jouffroy (three minutes' walk), which hosts antique shops and the Grevin Museum of waxworks. Grands Boulevards Metro station is five minutes' walk away, providing direct access to the Eiffel Tower in 25 minutes via line 8.
The hotel has free Wi-Fi. A continental breakfast of yogurt, fruit, pastries and coffee is served in the dining room. Rooms now have a Scandinavian look, with minimalist furniture and a muted color scheme. Classic Rooms are small but functional, and overlook the road or an inner courtyard.
