Why We Love This Hotel

  • An impressive past guest list includes former U.S. Presidents and celebs like Katherine Hepburn and Judy Garland
  • It's only five minutes walking to Boston Common as well as boutique shopping on Newbury Street; Fenway Park is just three T-stops away
  • There's a 20,000-square-foot fitness center on site, where guest can sign up for group and personal training sessions

The Boston Park Plaza is undeniably grand in more ways than one: With 1,060 rooms, it's one of the largest hotels in Beantown. It was also built in 1927 and still boasts a soaring art deco-style lobby with gilded ceilings and a dramatic black and white color palette. Add to that its prime real estate between Back Bay and Boston Common, and it's easy to understand why the Park Plaza has been a favorite of the city's who's-who for nearly a century — you might even spot Mark Wahlberg in the steakhouse just off the lobby.

Guest rooms weave the hotel's historic accents — think original crown molding — with modern amenities like Google ChromeCast, plush upholstered headboards, black-out shades and "massive closets" (The Telegraph). For extra space, we recommend upgrading to a Deluxe or Superior room — they start at 280 square feet. Suites come with separate living and bedroom areas.

On-site dining ranges from pub food at M.J. O'Connor's Irish bar to an impressive selection of steaks, seafood and oysters on the half-shell at STRIP by Strega Steakhouse. There's also a Starbucks in the lobby, which opens at 5:30 a.m. daily — especially handy if you need to fuel up before an early flight.

Everything was "nice enough." The room was spotless, the linens crisp, 3 pillows on the bed. The room design was drab, beiges and browns. The very large lobby has several spaces in which to hang out. A central bar and dining area with overpriced typical hotel food, a gift shop, a concierge and a library - which was the only unusual/unique thing about this hotel. The staff are extremely polite, all say good morning and all provided prompt and friendly service, from the speedy check-in front desk to the valet who took care of my car. I will likely not stay here again because there are so many hotels from which to choose and the Boston Park Plaza is not a stand out.

Nice corner room was very spacious however bathroom was very tiny and when toilet was flushed it was extremely loud/noisy! Lovely crisp linens, Keurig was nice touch, loved that windows opened a few inches.

The concierge service was lacking - seems only interested if you were paying for a tour, not very helpful with subway info., etc.

The hotel is greatly located. The staff was very friendly. The room was great, a little small, but clean and with a great view. The staff at off the common restaurant was great, especially the host Luis. He was very attentive, very knowledgeable, and he went above and beyond with his service. He was very attentive, I'd say Luis gave us superb service. Looking foward to staying again at what I consider my second home.

Great location! So close to everything downtown. Right across from Public Gardens and near Newbury Street shopping. Added bonus is that it is one block from the Arlington T stop. Rooms were modern, clean and spacious. Lobby and ambiance was great and the staff were fantastic. A connected Starbucks made getting morning coffee a breeze.

Room was right next to stair well. All that could be heard was loud banging from door closing at all hours of day and night.

Due to change of plans this was a last minute booking. Saw the travel zoo email pop up and I jumped on it. Great location, lots of restaurants in the area. Very busy hotel, but clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
