JW Marriott Austin
Why We Love This Hotel
- Upscale downtown hotel with a chic rooftop pool and bar
- Fitting for Texas, this is the brand's largest property in the U.S.
- It's a five-minute walk to the convention center
- Funky dining options include a food-truck-style burger bar and a casual restaurant with an impressive tequila menu
Everything's bigger in Texas, and apparently that includes the JW Marriott Austin, the brand's biggest property in the U.S. and the second biggest in the world, loaded with the kinds of comforts that business travelers particularly appreciate, such as ergonomic chairs and desks, an executive lounge and an onsite FedEx office. Wi-Fi is complimentary for Marriott Reward members and available to non-members at an additional fee.
The rooftop pool is what really knocks it out of the park here though, with a sleek shape surrounded by lots of lounge chairs and serviced by a hip bar. Other dining and drinking options include a food-truck-style burger bar and a casual fine dining restaurant with an impressive tequila menu.
Though the rooftop pool and fun dining options work to mitigate the chain-feel of this hotel, the rooms are a bit subdued in contrast to the funky aesthetic of Congress Avenue. Still, rooms are equipped with uber-comfy beds and a top-notch fitness center, all walking distance from nightlife and shopping.
