Najeti Hôtel Château Cléry is a historic French manor house dating back to 1766. The property is 35 minutes' drive from Calais, so it's easy to reach via the Eurotunnel or ferry.

The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Boulogne-sur-Mer -- France's largest fishing port -- which Lonely Planet calls "the most interesting of France's Channel ports". The Ville Haute ("high town") area of Boulogne is surrounded by a 13th-century wall and is notable for its 12th-century belfry and pretty cobbled streets. We recommend a stop at Nausicaä, described as "one of Europe's premier aquariums" by Lonely Planet.

The Côte d'Opale runs 40 kilometres from Boulogne to Calais, has "dramatic coastline", "wonderful restaurants" and "intriguing coves and sandy beaches" (The Daily Telegraph). Lonely Planet also praises the "charming seaside towns" along the coast.

Le Berthier -- the hotel's restaurant -- serves regional dishes made with local produce and has views of the hotel's 12 acres of parkland. It also has an impressive wine list.

The property also has a bar, a sun terrace and a sauna. Luxury Rooms all have double beds and free Wi-Fi.

This is a pet-friendly hotel. It's 20€ per night, per animal.

The literature need to make it more clear that the chateau is near Boulogne. We went to Hesdin by mistake and apparently we are not alone.

Needs a bit of maintenance to the grounds and general outside appearance of the hotel. Food exceptional but very expensive. The bar is also very expensive

Just back from a perfect 3 night visit to Chateau Clery (our third) courtesy of a Travelzoo offer. We had a marvellous deluxe room in the main building, beautifully decorated, with views of the stunning grounds, where we were able to relax in the peace and quiet in sun loungers, listening only to the birds. I did find the hand held shower attachment over the bath a bit tricky, also concerned that there was no non-slip surface or mat in the bath. As previously mentioned, there is no hospitality tray but we find there rarely is in French accommodation; a nice touch was free bottle water. A very decent buffet breakfast is provided with plenty of choice. The restaurant in the conservatory is just gorgeous serving exceptional dishes, and wine – although this is on the expensive side as is coffee – over Euros 10 for two cups??? One night of our stay the whole restaurant was reserved by, I believe, a local club so hotel residents were not able to eat in house – a little disappointing. The staff was always attentive and professional from the reception, restaurant, gardeners and housekeeping. A thoroughly enjoyable few days!
