The White Swan Hotel is situated in the market town of Halifax, in West Yorkshire's Brontë country. The hotel is a great base from which to explore the area -- less than a 10-minute drive away is the village of Southowram, where it is believed Emily Brontë was inspired to write "Wuthering Heights".
For a family-friendly day out, head to Eureka!, an interactive educational museum for children. Visit the Victoria Theatre to see ballet, comedy, family shows, pantomimes or concerts. The hotel is also within walking distance of local shops, restaurants and bars.
At the hotel, guests can enjoy a traditional English breakfast cooked to order or there is a wide selection of lighter options on the buffet tables. The on-site Julio's Italian restaurant serves dishes including pizzas, pastas and risottos.
The hotel offers free Wi-Fi throughout, and facilities include a workout room and a cosy bar/lounge.
Other local attractions include Calderdale, which is less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel and is the southernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, covering part of the South Pennines.
Shibden Hall is just over a mile from the hotel and is a Grade II-listed, timber-framed manor house, dating from the 1400s. It is set in 90 acres of the Shibden Valley that forms Shibden Park. In the park there is a café, a miniature railway, a lake, and a pitch-and-putt course, or you can explore the woodlands.
Leeds and the town of Skipton are less than 50 minutes away by car.
