Hotel La Perla
Why We Love This Hotel
- Stunning hillside location overlooking Lake Como
- Pretty grounds filled with olive trees
- Close to Tremezzo, a traditional Italian village
- Most bedrooms have lake & mountain views
The family-owned Hotel La Perla is located in the hills above Tremezzo, a small village next to Lake Como in northern Italy. Stunning lake and mountain views from most bedrooms and the hotel terrace are a major highlight. Dotted with olive trees and bougainvillea, the grounds are also a plus.
The village is a 6-minute walk downhill from the hotel, or you can take the hotel’s scheduled shuttle service to Tremezzo’s bus and boat station. From here, a boat departs for the Isola Comacina, the only island on the lake. There’s a 5th-century church and a small restaurant that serves freshly caught fish. Villa Carlotta is less than three miles away from the hotel -- built in the 18th century, this historic building has a botanic garden with azaleas, rhododendrons, lemon and banana trees, bamboo, coffee and tea plants.
A buffet breakfast is served either on the scenic terrace or in the breakfast room overlooking Lake Como. There’s also a stylish American bar that serves cocktails and aperitifs, while the small stone patio area has a pool, deck chairs and umbrellas. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
Most of the bedrooms have their own balconies, plus air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a mini bar. The Family Suite is the largest room and is big enough for two adults and two children, with a spacious terrace featuring views of Villa del Balbianello and its promontory.
