Map & Directions
From London Heathrow Airport, take the Piccadilly Line to Green Park and then change for the Jubilee Line to Waterloo Station, which will take an hour and 10 minutes and cost £5, or alternatively take the Heathrow Express to Paddington and change to the Bakerloo Line for Waterloo, which will take about 45 minutes and cost between £22-£30 each way.
A taxi from Gatwick will take around 50 minutes and cost between £120-£140, and a taxi from Heathrow will take roughly 26 minutes and cost around £70.
For those driving, there is no car park on site, but there is a U-Park facility next door. Bookings must be made directly with the company and advance reservations are recommended.
Rooms & Rates
Overlooking the river, Big Ben and the London Eye, the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge is in an easily recognisable part of London, providing an ideal base for visiting the capital. The hotel is on the south side of the river, within a 20-minute walk of the Tate Modern, the National Theatre, the Southbank Centre (with its numerous riverside restaurants) and the London Aquarium. Walk over Westminster Bridge for iconic views of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The West End's theatres, Green Park and Buckingham Palace are within 25 minutes by foot over the river -- alternatively, you can walk seven minutes to nearby Waterloo station and hop on the Northern, Jubilee or Bakerloo Tube lines.
Although the area has a diverse range of restaurants, you will also have a choice of three restaurants at the Park Plaza: the 1WB Lounge & Patisserie, which serves all-day tapas, contemporary afternoon tea, pastries and chocolates; the Japanese-style Ichi Sushi & Sashimi Bar, which offers a rather unusual sushi afternoon tea of various nigiri sushi, California rolls and assorted Japanese cakes; and the 2-AA-Rosette-Awarded Brasserie Joël restaurant, serving French cuisine, which The Times's restaurant critic Giles Coren awarded a 9/10, citing its food as "unbelievable". Breakfast is also served here in the morning, and can be delivered to your room at no extra charge. In addition, there is the Primo Bar with cocktails, live music and views of Big Ben from its VIP area (reservations required), and an espressamente illy Italian coffee bar.
Unsurprising for a hotel of this size, there's also a state-of-the-art fitness room, 24-hour gym, 15-metre swimming pool with a sauna and a steam room, as well as an Asian-style Mandara Spa, with nine treatment rooms offering a range of health and beauty treatments (extra fees apply).
This large hotel has 1019 rooms, including 54 suites and penthouses, and over 400 guest rooms, all of which are a good size, have a contemporary finish (think black, white and grey with red accents), free Wi-Fi, and separate showers and baths. The Superior Rooms face the internal atrium and have no external views (although some natural daylight makes it through the atrium). Most of the more than 500 Studio Rooms have outside views, and some upgraded rooms overlook the London Eye and Big Ben. For an extra charge, you can access the Executive Lounge, which serves a complimentary breakfast buffet, afternoon pastries, and evening canapés and drinks, and has views of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
