Anstey Hall is a Grade-I-listed property with the relaxed atmosphere of a country manor, set two miles from Cambridge and within easy reach of the M11. The hall has a library of antiquarian books and is surrounded by peaceful parkland. There is plenty of free parking on site and Wi-Fi is free.
The hotel is in the village of Trumpington on the outskirts of Cambridge. It is a 15-minute walk into Grantchester, where The Orchard Tea Garden is a popular spot for a light lunch or afternoon tea on the banks of the River Cam. From here, it's an hour-long stroll along the river into Cambridge, or you can catch a bus into town from Trumpington Park and Ride, which is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Buses run every 10 minutes during the daytime and the journey takes a quarter of an hour.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant on site, but a continental buffet is served each morning and there's a self-service honesty bar. There are also three pubs in Trumpington village, within a 5-minute walk of the hotel, and a Waitrose supermarket.
Bedrooms are furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques, impressionist art and modern fixtures. Some overlook parkland. Standard rooms are located in the manor and the adjoining stable block. Upgrade to a Superior room for a 4-poster bed and a guaranteed room in the main house. Take note: the hall is an old building and the water pressure can be low in some bathrooms.
