"We stayed at the Saguaro Scottsdale so we were familiar with the brand when we booked. The staff, lobby, and on-site restaurant are great, but our room felt dirty from the moment we walked in. There appeared to be grease spots on the light switches, head board, and end tables. I found our tv remote on the floor behind the dresser leading me to believe it was not cleaned after the last guest. For the value, this was a good stay, but we would likely not book again."

The Saguaro Palm Springs opened to acclaim in 2012 and swiftly picked up a chic, loyal following and rave reviews from Conde Nast Traveler, which calls it a "hip retreat with the help of psychedelic colors." The property is located on the quieter southern end of Palm Springs, though the colorful, retro décor is anything but muted.

The hotel has a trendy on-site restaurant, El Jefe, where guests can sip freshly made specialty cocktails like the Tipsy Cactus and enjoy small plates like short rib tacos or spinach quesadillas.

The hotel’s best feature, however, is its pool deck with two hot tubs and an Olympic-size pool, which stays open late. It attracts a lively crowd on summer weekends, when the DJ spins all day long and the deck buzzes with the young and trendy. The stunning mountain backdrop only makes it more picturesque. Take note, however: During the week, the partiers head back to LA, and the hotel scene is much quieter and more family oriented.

The hotel may be small, but it isn’t short on amenities. There’s a 24-hour gym, yoga classes every morning and a shuttle bus that provides transport to downtown Palm Springs. There’s also a bocce ball court, a small spa and bikes with which to explore the surrounding mountain trails.

The rooms are fun with purple carpets, handcrafted Mexican furniture, vintage prints and striped bedspreads. Suites have separate living rooms, and almost every room has a balcony or patio. The hotel is pet friendly and there is non-refundable $50 fee.

Note: The pool and hot tub are closed through Jan. 16, 2019.

Yoga classes are the best, pool, shade umbrellas and massage.

Unbelievable redecorated rooms was a complete down grade. Uncomfortable bed (box spring removed but same mattress this does not work). No phone, no clock radio, a half roll of toilet paper only no spare, no bar of soap. No hand towels, uncomfortable dining chair. Ugly room designed for a child. Fabulous vintage Art work gone. Yoga am classes excellent. Many screaming children mid week at the pool.

It’s kitschy and fun. Pool are is nice, lots of chairs, beds, full bar. Wish pool was heated, too cold to go in. First floor rooms are convenient to walk to pool. Hammocks and bocci court were nice even though I didn’t have time to use them. Staff in el jefe was enjoyable and make great drinks.

Plumbing issue, tub and sink did not drain and icky stuff was coming up and not draining. Paid for a pool view, wasn’t given one. Switched into more appropriate room. Left behind clothing in first room and have yet to hear back from staff to acquire it. I will be really upset if it’s not located as it was 100% left in the old room. Honesty in hotels is very important. Pool isn’t heated. Hot tub closes at 10pm. Resort fees are too high for amenities provided.

Although catering to the adult party crowd, the hotel was perfect for us as my kids are used to being around lots of adults. We loved the food, the drinks, and all the colors! Maintenance helped us expeditiously with a TV issue. Our only frustration was with parking when returning to the hotel late on Friday night. Several spaces were occupied by large buses and construction debris for hotel room updates (which is great!).

The hotel is definitely past its prime. Hallways and rooms are looking a little rough. You can tell people have partied hard. Definitely could use some sprucing up. Great for those looking to party. The location is good and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

King bed was comfortable. Bedroom didn't have a window or glass sliding door so only lighting was from 2 small wall lamps. Space was large with separate living room space--nice! Balcony with view of pool & mountain but noisy air conditioning made sitting on balcony unpleasant. Room was in process of being updated, so some enhancements weren't yet made. Overall, a good stay. No major problems

Arrived to check-in and had to ask woman perched on stool to assist. She was busy handling check in envelopes for next day, and seemed annoyed she had to stop to assist me. The told me I forfeited my meal credits because I didn't check in early. I told her it didn't say anything on booking screen that this had to be used on arrival day only. Cut me off and said that's not how it works and gave me keys. Nothing extra. Glad I was scouting locations well in advance of women in medicine event. We won't be coming here!

A great boutique hotel with colorful vibes. Only hoped pool was colder. Lukewarm water wasn’t very refreshing in 110 plus weather.
