The Saguaro Palm Springs opened to acclaim in 2012 and swiftly picked up a chic, loyal following and rave reviews from Condé Nast Traveler, which chose it as one of the World’s Best New Hotels in 2013. The property is located on the quieter southern end of Palm Springs, though the colorful, retro décor is anything but muted.

The hotel has a trendy on-site restaurant -- El Jefe where guests can sip freshly made specialty cocktails like the Tipsy Cactus and enjoy small plates like short rib tacos or spinach quesadillas.

The hotel’s best feature, however, is its pool deck with two hot tubs and an Olympic-size pool, which stays open late. It attracts a lively crowd on summer weekends, when the DJ spins all day long and the deck buzzes with the young and trendy. The stunning mountain backdrop only makes it more picturesque. Take note, however: During the week, the partiers head back to LA, and the hotel scene is much quieter and more family oriented.

The hotel may be small, but it isn’t short on amenities. There’s a 24-hour gym, yoga classes every morning and a shuttle bus that provides transport to downtown Palm Springs. There’s also a bocce ball court, a small spa and bikes with which to explore the surrounding mountain trails.

The rooms are fun with purple carpets, handcrafted Mexican furniture, vintage prints and striped bedspreads. Suites have separate living rooms, and almost every room has a balcony or patio. The hotel is pet friendly and there is non-refundable $50 fee.

There is an additional $30 daily resort fee which covers morning yoga classes, a local shuttle service to downtown, Wi-Fi access and on-site parking.

I would say the only thing I truly liked was the staffed I encountered. Mind you it was only at check in and check out, but the three staff members I spoke with were so nice. Oh, the beds are super comfy, but not sure if I’d Go back cause if the roach incident.
Other Comments
On my last day as I was about to shower I found a HUGE roach inside the bathtub. The staff was very quick to come to the room to remove the roach so am I thankful for that. I did notice the roach pooped inside the tub and the staff didn’t offer to clean the tub. I asked for a solution so I could clean it myself, but they didn’t show. Luckily I carried my own Clorox wipes and I wiped the tub myself or else I would still be waiting for housekeeping. I am normally not one to complain, but I just didn’t feel like showering with a roach and a dirty tub with roach poop.

Andrew, the clerk who checked us in and Kyle, who checked us out prematurely and made sure we got our money back. If you're a 22 year old looking for a Spring Break atmosphere, this is the place.

It's like spending a night at a Frat house. We don't mind parties, but going to sleep at a decent hour is the most important.

The decor of this hotel is atrocious. It worked for a few years when they first renovated it, but honestly they should have gotten with the times when they repainted this year. The common space is great for Millennials which is about 3% of the people who travel to Palm Springs. There is no quite space at all in this property. This is 2017 - a large % of the working people who travel to Palm Springs for an extended period of time most likely have some amount of work to do - the room is not conducive to this nor is the common space.
