"Great location - we usually stay at the Westin and find this location to be a bit more central. The Summit's rooms are dated and the mini-fridge was a bit loud. Super friendly staff!"

Overview

"One of the area's best values in luxury accommodations" (Fodor’s), Summit Lodge & Spa is a chalet-style hotel with a low-key atmosphere and a retro feel. The location is convenient -- an easy five-minute walk from shops and restaurants -- yet it is very quiet. It is a little further to the ski lifts, but the hotel runs a free shuttle service (December-April), and it is 10 minutes on foot if you choose to walk. In the summer, there are great walking trails around Lost Lake (a 30-minute walk), or you can borrow one of the hotel’s bikes and explore the 19-mile Valley Trail (bikes are free for up to four hours at a time).

This is a pet-friendly resort, and there’s no extra charge. Pets’ names are logged on the VIP Pets board at the front desk, and the hotel can arrange to have a bed and food bowls ready and waiting in your room. Rainbow Park, a 15-minute drive away, has a dog-friendly beach (Barking Bay) and there are two dog-friendly parks within a 10-minute drive.

After a day in the big outdoors, relax in the hotel’s sauna, small heated outdoor pool and hot tub or enjoy a massage at the Balinese spa. For dinner, choose between relaxed Elements, that serves "detail-driven" tapas (Zagat), and the hotel’s Japanese restaurant, which is "Whistler's best sushi spot," according to Lonely Planet. Breakfast is available at both and you can help yourself to complimentary coffee or hot chocolate from the machine in the lobby.

Studios and suites are all large and cozy, with an electric fireplace, a small balcony (in most rooms), and fully equipped kitchenettes, including a stove, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and wet bar. You’ll find an IGA grocery store just across the street, handy for stocking up on essentials. Guests are greeted by a cute sock monkey on the bed (they’re also available to purchase), and there is free Wi-Fi.

Great experience. One misunderstanding, breakfast included but never explained it would be delivered to room, so went to the restaurant that has direct indoor access from hotel lobby, thought it was where breakfast was offered. $49 bill. Hotel ended up giving us $24 credit so happy.

The hotel associates went over the top to make our stay relaxing and we felt very taken care of during social distancing times. Beds super comfy. Breakfast yummy. Quiet. Everything we needed was delivered to our room immediately. We will definitely be coming back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Summit Lodge Hotel. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the room was just as expected, the amenities were open while following covid safety guidelines (e.g. max 2 people in the hot tub; guests can reserve a time slot for when they would like to use the tub), and a hot breakfast (coffee, muffin, and breakfast sandwich) was also delivered to our door the morning of departure. The location of the hotel is also very convenient - it's right in the middle of the village. I would definitely come back!
