Why We Love This Hotel

  • Home to the PGA and featuring five courses, the resort is a golfer's paradise
  • The spa has an impressive range of mineral pools
  • All rooms have private balconies or terraces
  • Four on-site restaurants provide dining options for nearly every palate

"We got a very good deal for the golf package ($140/rm/night for 2 people including room and green fee) so we took advantage of it. The golf courses were a bit wet because hurricane Dorian was skirting Florida East Coast. All in all, it was a great golf trip with the guys. The Championship Course (home of the Honda Classics) sure lives up to its name. Very nice course and should be on the bucket list of all golfers. The Palmer is also a nice course. The other courses (Estate/Fazio) were just ok... nothing to brag about."

PGA National Resort & Spa is home to five championship courses, including one that's played host to the Honda Classic every spring since 1981. It remains exclusive (although resort guests get access). The club’s champion course was updated in 2014, but there are four others to tackle, including a Fazio-designed course. While the resort is prime for golfers, it also includes four dining options, a pool and an impressive spa, making it a popular choice for anyone looking for fun and relaxation.

Sporting activities aren’t limited to golf. There is a Sports & Racquet club, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows and surrounded by lush vegetation. Those looking to unwind after a day on the links can visit the European-style spa with signature Waters of the World outdoor mineral pools, saunas, steam rooms and whirlpools.

Of the dining options on site, the most impressive is the Ironwood, which draws locals and guests with prime Vulcan steaks and superb seafood. While the iBar is a 3,000-square-foot terrace where guests can choose from dining options off the iBar menu or selections from the restaurant.

Guest rooms are spacious and all feature a private balcony or terrace with views of the golf course, spa or gardens (premium rooms overlook the lake or pool). Upgrade to a junior suite for more space and a fold-out sofa. Spa suites are especially extravagant -- and have full-size leather massage tables for in-room treatments and a separate bar area.

The resort is nice and spacious. I like that fact we can keep our golf bags there and just walk over from our rooms. The only thing that was negative was the cost of drinks and food at the resort. It's outrageous, in our opinion.

There was an issue giving me a refund after I cancelled one travelzoo and booked another but it was handled and worked out fine by someone in reservations. When arrived the front desk had no information about our package which included breakfast and resort credit. I was told if I didn’t hear back from them then everything was fine. The next morning at breakfast the server said there was no mention on our room reservation that the breakfast was included… Again I had to contact the front desk and even though I had an email stating all these details they still told me they had to investigate and will call me back. I then went into the spa and spent a couple hundred dollars trying to relax just to get no phone call from them and have to follow up once again. One of the front desk people assured me it had been worked out and we would not get billed for breakfast and he even gave me an extra $50 resort credit which was very much appreciated. . . HOWEVER when we got home from our trip we kept getting billed $90 repeatedly. I called about the issue and was told we had two $90 bills pending. . . We only should’ve had one BUT using the resort credit should’ve only been billed about $15. I am now waiting for a food and beverage manager to look into it further and another call back. When you go away for a weekend for a relaxing experience at a resort and spa you don’t expect this. . . Although the spa itself was wonderful this has definitely tarnished our girls trip. Not sure if we will return next year unfortunately. Hopefully it is made right and we can return next year. We never had any of these issues last year when we all went. It is disappointing.

1-During our round of golf we experienced torrential rains. We didn’t know our way back to the clubhouse and when a ranger passed us all he did was honk his lightning horn to tell us to go in. He had no interest in stopping to help and didn’t know or take the time to find out that A: we were confused about how to get back and B: in the middle of this downpour and lightning storm our cart had stalled because the battery had gotten wet going through the puddles flooding the cart paths. When we got back to the pro shop there was no one there of any authority to discuss it with nor was anyone even around that could be called in. 2- That evening, after dinner at the hotel restaurant we had an issue with the bartender which was settled. For the rest of the evening the staff kept watching our movements. After a while, once all was settled and calm, the overnight manager felt it necessary to make a point of coming over to us to revisit the issue and restart all the bad feelings we had earlier. It was as if he was chastising a group of children he felt needed a lesson. Needless to say it ruined the rest of our evening and the next morning as well. Overall, I expected much better professionalism from a PGA Tournament facility.

Upon checking in, clerk questioned the waiving of the resort fee. Showed her the detailed printout and she supposedly corrected it but when I received the final bill, the resort charges were added back in. Had to bring it to the attention of the clerk upon checking out. Good thing I brought the documentation with me. Service at the Palm Terrace was slow and not very attending. Food and service at upstairs bar and outside pool bar was very good. Fish tacos and Sweet/Spicy wings were great, as was the burger at pool bar. Beds were comfortable. Pro shop attendees were very helpful and golf staff was great! Need signage at the pool when the pool is closed.

Great time there and all the staff was professional and friendly. Ate at Ironwood and had a wonderful dinner and food was excellent as well as the waiters! Golf shop personnel very helpful and has a great time playing golf even though it was cart path only due to the weather.

The Pool was nice but not great services. The Rooms were big and the view of the balcony was nice. I also like the self-park option. I hate to valet my vehicle.

The woman at the Coffee Place in the lobby was the rudest person I have ever dealt with at a Resort. For a person that travels at least 8 times a year for leisure and over 10 for work, that's a big statement. You just do not expect this type of service at a resort of this caliber. The staff at the I bar was also NOT great. The guest relations person was not very bright and almost ruined my birthday cake surprise for my guest during lunch. The guys at the gold Pro Shop were stiff and not pleasant at all. All in all, I expected more. I've stayed at cheaper places with exceptional service.
