About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- Unique national park resort on San Francisco Bay with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline
- The on-site Healing Arts Center & Spa is the perfect setting to relax with a cup of tea fireside, poolside or in the spa garden
- Try morning yoga classes, guided hikes around Fort Baker and cooking classes
The first national park resort in the San Francisco Bay area, Cavallo Point is a “rare species” (Condé Nast Traveler). Here, the luxuriously cozy rooms are made spectacular by unbeatable Golden Gate Bridge and bay views and a bounty of activities for guests. The property sits on a former army base at the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge, a mile from Sausalito and an hour by car from Napa and Sonoma.
Just a 20-minute drive from downtown San Francisco, the resort feels a world away from the hustle of the city. On-site activities include interactive cooking classes, an award-winning spa and morning yoga classes. Guided hikes around the national park and Fort Baker are also available. Families will find plenty to do as well. The expansive parade ground lawn is ideal for playing ball or just running around. The Bay Area Discovery Museum, one of the area's best children's museums, is right next door.
Farley Bar, with its cozy fireplaces and leather club chairs, is a great place to enjoy a cocktail and small bites. Snag a seat on the covered porch -- arguably one of the best spots to unwind at the resort. Murray Circle Restaurant focuses on modern cuisine highlighting local, seasonal ingredients.
Rooms are split between the colonial-style officers’ residences and modern eco-friendly lodges, but all have an open-plan design, organic linens and sleek bathrooms, many with bathtubs. Most rooms are south-facing and many offer views of San Francisco, the bay or Golden Gate Bridge. Pets are welcome, and food and water bowls, dog treats and bedding are available (charges apply).
The on-site Healing Arts Center & Spa is a destination in itself. Choose from a variety of treatments such as Himalayan salt stone massages, detoxifying body wraps and oxygen facials. Sip on freshly brewed tea, kombucha or organic pressed juice from the tea bar and go for a stroll in the garden. Set amidst a pine tree grove, the adults-only heated outdoor meditation pool is a tranquil oasis.
