Why We Love It
- This family-owned hotel overlooks Derwentwater
- The market town of Keswick is a 10-minute drive away
- The 2-AA-Rosette-awarded restaurant serves British fare
The family-owned Lodore Falls Hotel has a stunning location overlooking Derwentwater, 10 minutes' drive from the popular market town of Keswick.
Lancashire Life calls it "unashamedly homely", with roaring fires and cosy spots for tea and homemade scones. The 2-AA-Rosette-awarded restaurant has views of the lake and serves traditional British fare. There's also a pleasant garden terrace for al fresco dining (weather permitting).
Local attractions such as the Honister Slate Mine (the last working slate mine in England) and Whinlatter Forest are within a 20-minute drive of the hotel.
Just like the rest of the hotel, the bedrooms make the most of those lake views -- comfy armchairs face the large windows for admiring the scenery, and some even have balconies. There are three main room types: Standard, Classic and Lake View.
Please be aware that the hotel's leisure facilities and spa will be closed until summer, 2018. During this time, the building-works area will be fenced off and, while the majority of the hotel will not be affected, there will be intermittent noise throughout the week. Please also note that the hotel's waterfall cannot be accessed from the hotel grounds at present, but can be reached via a short stroll.
