"The fabulous lobby seems like a set from A Midsummer Night's Dream" -- Fodor's

Why We Love It

  • Centrally located near Columbus Circle, Central  Park and the subway
  • Ultra-chic interiors conceived by famed designer Philippe Starck
  • Four trendy bars and Umami Burger's flagship restaurant on-site
  • Popular rooftop terrace attracts a young and fashionable crowd and makes for a lively scene

What do a chartreuse green-lit escalator, an English pub-style bar and a rooftop terrace with city skyline views have in common? They are all part of the highly chic Hudson New York Hotel in Manhattan. The fashionable décor and popular restaurants attract city dwellers who want to see and be seen.

The variety of themes works here: a Jalisco-inspired tequila lounge, a gourmet burger joint and a cozy cocktail bar set in a library are a few of the on-trend eateries that attract the crowds and make for a lively scene. Much of the overall décor and design was created by famed modern designer Philippe Starck, and it shows in details like striking glass chandeliers, a ceiling fresco and a brightly lit yellow glass floor.

Guest rooms feature paneled wood walls and floors set against beds with crisp white bedding. The standard rooms are small, even for New York City, at only 150 square feet.

The hotel’s location on the southwest corner of Central Park in Columbus Circle puts it within a few blocks of several major subway lines, shops and eateries.

Rooms looked dated and very tired. It is time for a renovation.

the room could use a full length mirror but otherwise was nicely appointed.

The room was grossly small. The buffet breakfast was overpriced. The hallways were like being on board a ship and the overall hotel was very dark. The walls and windows were paper thin. We could hear everything on the street and our neighbors.

Location was superb, near Central Park, many subway lines, and Lincoln Center. Everyone at the front desk was very nice but clearly there are coordination issues with getting things done in the hotel.
Other Comments
1. I had to go to the front desk three times in the first hour after I checked in. 2. Workers started drilling on a terrace one floor below me at 7:30 a.m. one day. 3. No chest of drawers in room. 4. No mirror in the bathroom! It's as though no women put on makeup and no men shave, and nobody brushes their hair. 5. Bed incredibly squeaky. (and I was ALONE) 6. Clearly the room should have a lamp on either side of the bed but there was only one, so it was too dim. 7. The hallways are horrid and prison-like.

Hotel rooms are very small but appeared clean, which is more important to me. Hotel rooms and common areas were also very dark. A bit of a walk from most shows in the theatre district but not bad.

Big indifferent hotel Poor room lighting No hand lotion in toiletries Put charge on credit card upon checking which will be reimbursed in 6 business days if credit still available (rather than holding credit card and running charges as they accrue)

The fact that we we're here for 3 nights/4 days and we're given one of the few rooms without a dresser or any place to unpack our clothes. The cubby in the wall- not a closet had 4 hangers. We requested a room change & we're denied. Also requested more hangers since there wasn't any way to unpack our clothes. Took hours to get extra hangers. Also because our reservations were booked as a 2 night then another 1 night they told us upon check in that they were doing us a big favor by "allowing" us to stay in the same room throughout our stay. So imagine my surprise when my key didn't work last night. After 3 trips back down to the desk for new keys he said he'd send security up to check the door. Waited & no security..back down to desk & oh I'm so sorry your room was double locked because you never came down before noon to check back into your room.!?!? The front desk staff needs to get it together. I also believe when I booked a saw a 10$ voucher per day for food & drink...nope! Non-existent.
