Why We Love It

  • This 17th-century manor is set in 11 acres of Warwickshire countryside and has a 100-year-old topiary garden
  • The hotel boasts a library said to have been used by William Shakespeare
  • There is an extensive health club with a gym, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and a steam room
  • We've also negotiated a spa day with a treatment, lunch and a drink for £49 for one or £95 for two

Steeped in history, this Elizabethan manor house boasts 11 acres of grounds incorporating a 100-year-old topiary garden, a fountain and an 11th-century church where William Shakespeare is said to have married Anne Hathaway.

The pretty town of Stratford-upon-Avon, where you'll find Shakespeare's Birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Mary Arden's Farm, is less than 10 minutes away by car. Warwick, known for its massive Norman castle, Charlecote Park, Tudor World and Ragley Hall, considered one of England's finest Palladian mansions, are all less than 20 minutes' drive away.

Facilities at the hotel include a health club with a gym, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and a steam room, plus tennis courts, a yoga hut and beauty rooms. Alternatively, guests can relax in the library, reputedly visited by Shakespeare himself.

The hotel's Stuart Restaurant is split into two areas within the old manor house: an oak-panelled dining room and The Great Hall, which has a minstrels' gallery.

Rooms are split between the Manor House and the Cedar Barns (a short walk from the main building), and all have traditional décor and views of the hotel grounds. Wi-Fi is free.

The little church added to the experience and is also a 'champing' church. Great find.

The evening meal was particularly disappointing , most of the party of 9 adults left most of the meal. we were offered to stay in the barn as my mother in law has difficulty walking , I assumed there would be a walk in shower but there was only a bath which she couldn't use

Pleased to say my wife and I had a very nice relaxing break at The Billesley Manor Hotel while visiting the local area. We found all the staff very polite and helpful and our room No 3 was a very large clean and comfortable suite with everything we needed. Evening dinner was delicious, beautifully presented and thankfully not too filling after eating all day at the Food Festival. We would suggest ordering side dishes of more potato and vegetables though if you have a big appetite. Breakfast was a buffet style and a reasonable choice of cereal, fruit and cooked breakfast. Would have been nice to see more choice of eggs other than just fried please. Wonderful weekend thank you.

Great location for visiting Stratford Upon Avon with a Park and Ride just down the road back towards the M40 about a mile or so. Pound to park and 2pounds return to town per person.

We were very disappointed in our evening meal. We were a party of 9 and every one of us felt the same. Small portion sizes. Main course was very dry. Starter was bland. Desert very dry no cream or custard served. Breakfast however was excellent. So was the cake we asked the chef to make for my Mum 80th birthday.
