Chesterfield Hotel & Suites
Why We Love This Hotel
- Filled with a riot of colors and patterns, from black leather to zebra stripe to cowhide
- On Collins Avenue, around the corner from Ocean Drive
- A cozy roof deck with beds and a hot tub
- The party flows in from the streetside patio to the lobby bar
Around the corner from the riotous scene along Ocean Avenue, the Chesterfield Hotel is not for the meek. That starts with the lobby, which is a loud-and-proud clash of bold colors and safari prints. These fabrics upholster a small lobby bar, which shakes up icy concoctions for imbibing on either its leather banquettes or out on the street-side patio.
Rooms are spread across a couple art deco and art moderne buildings. Standard rooms are compact, with honeyed wood platform beds over hardwood floors, and spare furniture. There's more space in the suites, which are wrapped in bright greens and purples, some with a sitting area or a hot tub in the room.
In this part of town, the music thumps on the weekends, so it's not for people who like to turn in early. Head up to the roof deck, which offers an intimate retreat furnished with a hot tub and beds for lounging. The beach is a five-minute walk away, across Ocean Avenue and the paths of Lummus Park.
