  • Guest rooms are modern and showcase views of the surrounding mountains
  • Connected to the Palm Springs Convention Center, the hotel is a popular and convenient place for business travelers to post up

Located in downtown Palm Springs, the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel is located within walking distance to the city's main drag of shopping, dining, nightlife and art galleries. It's only a 16-minute drive to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to take in vistas of the Coachella Valley.

Guest rooms here are modern with a neutral color scheme, contemporary furnishings and marble bathrooms. Those on the higher floors have views of the surrounding San Jacinto Mountains. Business travelers can use the spacious desk and ergonomic chairs in the rooms, and since the hotel is connected to the convention center, it's a popular place for those visiting for conventions and conferences.

Dine at one of two restaurants: Date has an eclectic menu featuring dishes that include -- you guessed it -- dates, which are locally grown. Rocks is the other restaurant, which serves up American fare in a hip atmosphere with fire pits to gather around while sipping craft cocktails. Hit the fitness center for a dose of exercise; there's cardio equipment, free weights and an outdoor heated swimming pool where you can swim laps or soak up the sun from a private cabana. There's also a children's pool and sandbox. The hotel's spa has a full treatment menu including body scrubs, massages and facials.

Our air conditioning condenser went out the very first night. We went right down the next morning at 9am and they said they would send someone up. We returned from shopping many hours later and it was still hot in the room. We decided to turn it way down and visit the pool area. When we returned at 6:30pm it was still hot. We called again and found out it was broken and had to move . It was now 8pm and we had to pack everything up which was a pain and then lug it to the new room. They didn’t even bring up a cart and take our stuff. We are two married women on a getaway from husbands and wanted separate beds. There were no rooms left with two beds. We did get upgraded to the suite but it was now 8pm and we were tired and couldn’t even enjoy it and we wanted two beds! My other complaint was that the pool was definitely dirty and not cool. It was like bath water and not refreshing. I asked the pool/towel guys how often it was cleaned. They told me every night at 10pm. I find it hard to believe that anyone can read levels and clean pools at 10pm in the dark. I understand that there is a lot of sunscreen but it was very murky water. The gal at the front desk was very helpful and the decor was nice. but our stay not so nice.

Excellent pool bar service. Pool staff did not allow coolers, which was unfortunate on a 112 degree day. Front desk originally double-charged us for parking.

Clean, modern rooms; beautiful pool; great shuttle into town; but most of all the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. My husband fell ill and ended up in Desert Regional Memorial Hospital for three days. The staff at Renaissance could not have been kinder or more helpful. They made it easier for us to deal with a very difficult situation.

This is definitely not a hotel for adults who want to relax. Although there was a children's pool, no children ever used it --the main pool was packed with kids, who ate in the pool (why on earth?!) and tossed their toys around, regularly hitting folks in the face (of course, an accident, but still not great). I thought going during the week would minimize the likelihood of children, but no luck--and on top of that, it meant no restaurant (Date was closed during the week) and no poolside bar service (that's only Saturday/Sunday). Also, there was landscaping outside and even on the 4th floor the buzzing of the saw woke us up--one morning as early as 6am.
