Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort
About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- This is a true lakefront getaway: The hotel sits directly on a secluded stretch of Sturgeon Bay; there are also only 38 rooms on site
- Speaking of, all rooms here are suites with separate bedrooms, living rooms and fully-equipped kitchens, plus private balconies overlooking the water
- It's just a 10-minute drive to Sturgeon Bay, where you'll find plenty of boutique shops, restaurants and attractions like the Door County Maritime and Historical museums
If you're looking for a classic Door County escape, you'd be hard pressed to find a better spot than Westwood Shores: The hotel sits directly on the water, just 10 minutes north of downtown Sturgeon Bay; however, thanks to its forested surroundings and relatively small size (only 38 rooms on site), it feels worlds away from even the moderate hubbub of Door County's largest town.
The hotel itself is designed to maximize the view, with all guest rooms and common spaces overlooking the water. There are plenty of on-site amenities, too, including an indoor pool, outdoor heated pool, Whirlpool hot tub and fitness center, as well as seasonal boat rentals.
Although there's no restaurant, suites here come with fully equipped kitchens including ovens, stoves, microwaves, full-sized refrigerators and cookware, in addition to upscale touches like gas fireplaces, granite countertops and flat-screen TVs. You'll also find complimentary coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby.
In the area, you'll find Bay Winery (just up the road) and Cherry Hills Golf Course (less than five minutes driving). It's also only 20 minutes to Egg Harbor, and Peninsula State Park is roughly 40 minutes driving up the coast.
