The package deal was Ocean view + $250 towards food + beverages. Since this my 1st experience booking with TravelZoo, I was alittle nervous not booking directly with the hotel. But no problems with getting the room in the Kona South Tower with a nice partial ocean view. The room+ deck were large + comfy beds + nice separate shower + separate tub. Only problem was that there was only 1 elevator working + with my mobility problems, it was a long walk even with my wheeled walker. From the previous reviews that elevator has not been working since at least May 2025. There was only 1 day that I saw a repair guy working on the elevator! The $ 250. went quickly but I was glad that it was included. The grounds were beautiful + lush with tropical flowers + waterfalls. I did get to see 3 turtles right in front of the Hale Kai Restaurant!

We love the Fairmont Orchid - stayed here at least 6 or 7 times. Beautiful resort that is big enough but not a sprawling Disneyland - like resort. Staff is always great and helpful.

Great location on beach. But expensive and food just average.

This was our second stay at the Fairmont Orchid this year and we really enjoyed everything about this resort. We took advantage of the special Travelzoo package which was $399 per nite, plus a $250 resort credit and no resort fees. We are hoping Travelzoo will offer this same package in 2025 because we will definitely return.

We appreciate having an adults-only pool, which makes the experience even more relaxing. It's also a great location to explore the Kohala Coast venues. It's a very well-maintained resort with a classic Hawaiian style but modern guest rooms. My only complaint is that there should be more drawers to store clothes and the HVAC system is rather noisy (the latter is completely correctible). Otherwise, a great value!

Biggest complaint was no umbrellas at the beach. Any covering from shade requires renting at fairly high cost.

Excellent hotel with well manicured grounds and friendly staff. Rooms are clean with comfortable beds, but the shower area is too small. My biggest disappointment was the over-priced food and cocktails. Also the adult area of the pool should be expanded.

I would recommend this hotel for families with children or teens.

It is very expensive to eat and drink here! But the service was very good. The Thanksgiving buffet was delicious and full of fresh seafood. We did enjoy it.

There was a power outage in our room for over 8 hours and we were not contacted to let us know. Finally I went to the desk and we were relocated but I feel like if I didn’t ask we would have sat in the dark all night! The Fairmont made it right, but we did lose food and time- the lack of communication was the issue.

This was our fifth time here. We love it! Only strikes against it was the elevator wasn’t working the last day and the only sit down breakfast now is an expensive buffet.

Great resort experience overall. Love that pool was adjacent to ocean. Really appreciated "over 18" section of pool, particularly as it had great view of ocean. Resort area is relatively small making it quick & easy to get around. Brown's Deli ("grab and go" option) was very convenient, especially since we aren't "big breakfast" people. Room was on first floor of North Tower with view of golf course. We would have preferred to be at least one floor up. Rooms were being remodeled in this area (ours had recently been completed), so we had to deal with some light construction activity and noise. Would gladly return if another Travelzoo deal is available.

There’s a lot to like. The beach is gorgeous and the location is about 30 min from Kona airport and Waimea. The rooms are definitely dated but clean and comfortable. I found the food to be lower quality than expected. The pizza seemed like it was a frozen pizza on a cracker. The cocktail drinks were very sugary. I don’t think I would choose to stay here again only because there are so many luxury hotels on the Big Island and I would prefer a newer one.

Just too noisy with outside gardening

The grounds were gorgeous. We love the complimentary water bottles and refill stations everywhere!

They gave us a room facing the golf course (Ocean view was a stretch!). There were maintenance people and equipment coming and going all day due to some remodeling apparently. The elevators near our room were not working, and 2 large buildings had to share 1 elevator. The place has AMAZING grounds, lovely pools, and all the things you'd want in a luxury accommodation, but we were not happy there because of their prices (drinks were $24 as an example), and, we wanted to explore the island. That is a type of accommodation you should go to and never leave the grounds. The rooms need a little more updating, like plugs for phones, some hooks for towels by the sinks....little touches that would be appreciated in a high-end accommodation. Jazmine, one of the front desk asst managers, was nice enough to let us out of our final 3 nights. We drove down to Kailua-Kona and found a place where we felt more comfortable. The Travelzoo deal was a very good one, just not for us as it turned out.

Besides the ambiance of the hotel the location and overall service, it’s the people that make the stay. Everyone we interacted with, even the maintenance crews, were friendly and concerned about you enjoying your stay. Service is excellent and the restaurants produce quality products. We will definitely return again.

Our second visit here with Travelzoo. Our garden view room this time was by the tennis pavilion and wasn’t as nice as our previous visit. The property is showing its age; many doors need paint, especially in employee service areas that guests see. There were tiles missing in the pool. The landscaping, however, is beautiful. The A/C never got cold so we had trouble sleeping as we couldn’t cool down the room. The gym was really nice and they had a morning yoga class that was free. The free parking is convenient.

Hotel was gorgeous and spacious. The restaurants had limited menu items, but everything was tasty. Pool was extra large and beautiful. Grounds were beautifully landscaped and great location for sunset.

The Fairmont is an extraordinary place! The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay the very best it could be. We loved the grounds and the various activities offered.

Generally very good. Hotel is very nice and the grounds are great.

One weakness is the lack of breakfast choices. Seems to be either an expensive buffet or takeout from the coffee stand. Most resorts offer a traditional breakfast as well with a decent view.

We had a wonderful time. We did find out that this was a slow part of the season and that the resort will be active again with younger families. And sure enough, it slowly started filling up as we we’re heading back home.

Find a quieter part of the season to go as a couple. It’s very romantic place to be.

Spent the week with our son and grandkids. Perfect beach for children, and swimming with turtles. Great food at every restaurant.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The rooms and hallways were a bit outdated and could use a facelift, same with the spa. Time has had a toll on the brightness of the hotel. Staff were excellent. Good was great!! Overall very satisfied with our stay.

Drinks were exceptionally pricey. Food as well.

Staff was OUTSTANDING! Beds more comfy than my own. Food yummy. Setting great. Only down side is without a car food options run out quick. But I loved the ez peacefull nature of this are though so il take that trade. & locals were AL.so friendly & like a big fam..loved that energy too!

Magnificent landscaping and setting.on sunny Kohala coast. Very nice staff. Negatives are limited basic dining options and no bfast except $$$$$ buffet. Gorgeous pool but limited shade esp when windy and umbrellas have to stay down which was most of our stay. They need ala carte breakfast and much better grab and go options. Also they need a larger convenience store and “deli” that is open past five….no where to buy sundries or a can of soda or health and beauty items. What they do have, has very limited inventory and closes at 5! Competing hotels nearby like Marriott and Auberge Mani Launi have all of this.

The rooms are nice but what looks like a huge triple dresser actually has zero storage for clothes and is full of their “amenities”. Only drawer storage is in the night stand. This is ridiculous. A microwave would be nice esp since no basic dining options. Also, if they do a re-design they should include a dressing table with mirror OUTSIDE of bathroom. That way, someone could be dressing or drying hair without steam while someone else in the shower. Poor lighting in bathroom…spotlights not good….casts shadows on face….my husband had hard time shaving…same for makeup application. And finally, poor ventilation in bathroom and NO A/C vent.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere that this property provides. Very laid back with a nice pool and access to the beach and ocean. Was looking for a stress free environment to relax and recharge...this was it.

Really think the drinks need to be a bit lower priced. Above average for Hawaii.

The property is simply beautiful, especially at night. String lights, tiki torches and lovely Hawaiian music . We ate at all restaurants, and never had a bad meal.

NO DRESSERS TO PUT CLOTHES IN!! We had a nice room with our suitcases on LUGGAGE RACKS! Who designed this?? Also, very disappointed we had no refrigeration (yes, a drawer which was not refrigerator temp). Our room was very dated, but the linens, bed and bathrobes were wonderful.

Beautiful grounds and a nice room, although they were in the process of upgrading their rooms. A day before arriving, the Orchid called to say that our "king" room would not be available, so would move us to a "2 queen bed" room and compensate us with a free breakfast everyday. That was fine with us! Staff were all exceptionally friendly!

Beautiful property

Construction in our building that we were not told about until we arrived. Not enough path lighting at night….. Safety issue. No restaurant/bar in the main building during the day. Only lunch was out by the beach.

The staff wasn't as hospitable or welcoming as I thought they would be. My checkout experience wasn't as nice, and especially for a Fairmont I thought it would be better. I've been to several Fairmonts, and I probably won't come back to this one. I'd rather stay at Four Seasons or Mauna Lani, which both have nicer properties. I had an excursion booked through them on their property that they cancelled last minute, which I woke up very early for. Also, the "FREE" excursions or classes they offer aren't free. The seaside yoga at 7 am, that I signed up for, asked for tips. Everyone gave $10, and I felt obligated to. That's not acceptable. The beach wasn't great. It left something to be desired, and the snorkeling off of that beach was so cloudy and disappointing. I only went in the ocean once, and I love the ocean. Also, they couldn't have put me in a worse room. I was the last room closest to the cleaning lady supply closet, where I could hear them slamming things all hours. The view from my room wasn't really a view. I was very clearly next to a couple of trees bordering their utility building, which was loud. I thought for being an ALL Accor member and having been to several Fairmonts that MAYBE i'd get a complimentary upgrade (I know I got a deal through Travelzoo, but still). I also felt very lost on the property, and spent most of my time exploring Big Island instead. Lastly, I ate at Brown's, which is highly acclaimed. The issue wasn't the view or live music, which was spectacular, but the quality of the food. It was 6/10, and for the price it should at least be a 9/10. I liked that they incorporated traditional flavors, but the food wasn't as nice overall. I hope this makes it's way back to Fairmont Orchid so they can improve.

Have often vacationed in this area as we had a condo nearby that we sold, and it was so wonderful to come back to the area and stay at the Fairmont Orchid. Beautiful resort, excellent staff and service.
