Sail through the inlets and glaciers of Argentina's Patagonia region -- South America's southernmost point -- and tour two major cities for $4399 per person, including all airfare and taxes.

Separately booking the pieces of this fully escorted nine-night vacation would cost up to $865 more per person.

In Buenos Aires, see the presidential palace where Juan and Eva Peron addressed the crowds, tour an Argentine ranch and take in a tango show. Then, journey through Patagonia's snowcapped mountains and the Strait of Magellan. Complete the trip in Chile, sightseeing among Santiago's colonial architecture and the centuries-old port city of Valparaiso.

This trip from Friendly Planet Travel includes:

  • Nonstop flights on LAN Airlines from Miami to Buenos Aires and back from Punta Arenas/Santiago
  • All flights and transfers in South America
  • Three-night cruise on MV Stella Australis, used by National Geographic as its Patagonia ship
  • Six nights at 4- to 4.5-star hotels in Buenos Aires, Ushuaia (Patagonia) and Santiago
  • 17 meals: nine breakfasts, four lunches and four dinners
  • English-speaking local guides and all tours

Depart: Sept. 20 or March 28; +$260 March 21; +$500 Nov. 22, Jan. 17 or Feb. 28

Optional: Add on a pre-tour package to Iguazu Falls. It includes two nights at Sheraton Iguazu in a Falls View room, a tour of the waterfalls, airfare from Buenos Aires to Iguazu and back, and all transportation.
