Florida Vacation Tips
Before considering a Florida vacation, it’s important to size up the reason you’re visiting the Sunshine State.
For an exciting family-friendly Florida vacation, Orlando is a huge draw, thanks to Mickey Mouse, Harry Potter and the rest of the gang. Think carefully about the time of year you want to visit as summer is an overwhelmingly popular, and humid, time to visit Florida’s parks. The biggest mistake that anyone makes when visiting Disney World and Universal is trying to jam too much into one trip. Set modest expectations for each day, securing a few Fast Pass+ reservations at Disney World. That way, your family and you will be pleasantly surprised if they see more at some point. Families should factor in nap or pool time back at the resort. For some kids, that’s actually the highlight of the trip.
For more of a hip, adult vibe, head to Miami to sample South Beach, Little Havana and beyond. Don’t pass up the chance to cruise on the intercoastal, gazing at the millionaires’ estates set right along the water. And remember to plan ahead: reservations can be hard to come by in some of Miami’s more exclusive hot spots. Above all else, know the dress code of the club or restaurant ahead of time. There’s nothing more embarrassing than walking into a posh new restaurant in shorts when everyone else is dressed to the nines.
