In London's upmarket borough of Kensington, visitors will find a palace that houses a princess and a historic Victorian manor that houses a 4-star hotel. While the princess's pad never goes on sale, the posh hotel has dropped its prices as much as 50%.
Visit the Millennium Bailey's Hotel in Kensington July 15 - Sept. 8 for $150 (£99) per night. For $179 (£119) per night, receive daily breakfast for two, a movie rental, Wi-Fi and a £10 credit for food and drinks. The first 15 bookings will receive an upgrade to a larger Club Room with lounge access.
The member of Parliament who built this mansion in the 1870s furnished its entry hall with marble pillars, Victorian plasterwork, stained glass windows and a curving grand staircase -- all elegant elements that still greet guests today.
The hotel is less than a mile from Kensington Palace, where Diana lived and where Will and Kate will soon move. Also about a mile down the road is Knightsbridge, where properly British shops like Harrods and Burberry roost. For points farther afield, a Tube station is less than a block away.
Note: Bookings are nonrefundable and require full prepayment. Rates include taxes. The £10 food and drink credit is valid between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. for dining from the A La Carte Menu.
