Set in 10 acres of gardens, the Mill House Hotel in Kingham, Oxfordshire, was built in the 11th century and still features the original flagstone flooring, fireplace and bread ovens from its days as a working mill. Each bedroom has views over the gardens, the trout stream or the surrounding Cotswolds countryside. Guests who dine in the restaurant on the second night will receive a free bottle of wine.
Kingham was named England's favourite village in 2004 by Country Life magazine, with praise for its community spirit and picturesque location. Along with traditional market towns and villages dotted with honey-coloured Cotswold stone cottages, there are plenty of historic houses and gardens to visit in the area. Cheltenham city centre and Bicester Village outlet shopping centre are both a 30-minute drive from the hotel.
