Save up to 41% on an overnight stay in the Lancashire countryside that is said to have provided the inspiration for Tolkien's Middle-earth. For £89 per room, this deal from the Best Western Mytton Fold Hotel & Golf Complex includes a 3-course dinner (worth £25 per person), a round of golf per person (worth £20) and a full English breakfast (worth £12.50 per person).

Valid for stays until 30 April, 2013. There is a £10 supplement for Saturday-night stays.

Guests will also find a goody bag in their room on arrival containing discount vouchers for local activities, Lancashire sweets and other snacks.

Named Lancashire and Blackpool's Small Hotel of the Year by the Lancashire Tourism Board in 2009-10 and 2011-12, the Mytton Fold Hotel is an old dairy farm set in heart of the Ribble Valley (pictured). The memorable scenery around the hotel is said to have inspired Tolkien's vision of Middle-earth when he wrote sections of Lord of the Rings here in 1940. Explore the fells, lush valleys, ancient Roman ruins and picturesque market towns such as Clitheroe on the numerous walks and cycle routes accessible from the hotel.

The family-run hotel has an 18-hole 72 par course, a pub with an open fireplace and individually designed modern bedrooms. Guests can choose dishes such as Lancashire and Garstang blue cheese, pork Benedictine and sticky toffee pudding for dinner. The hotel is 10 minutes by car from Clitheroe and Blackburn, and 40 minutes from Blackpool.

Restrictions may apply. Subject to availability. Price based on two sharing. A non-refundable deposit of £50 per person is required to secure booking.
