For £49 per room, per night, escape to an island with miles of beaches, literary homes and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed coastline -- right here in the UK. The Venue Hotel on Portland, part of Dorset's Jurassic Coast, has cut a massive 60% off rates this winter and spring, with breakfast included.
The offer is valid Sunday-Thursday from 18 February-12 May. A 2-night minimum stay applies. It's £10 more per room, per night, to stay Friday and Saturday nights.
Accommodation is in a Courtyard Double Room (pictured), with upgrades to a Sea View Double Room available for an extra £10 per room, per night.
The Venue Hotel, perched on the cliffs of Portland's western shore, is a "modern" and "spacious" hotel says the AA. All rooms come with a flat-screen TV, free internet access and tea- and coffee-making facilities and the restaurant and bar have panoramic sea views.
Portland is connected to the mainland by road and Chesil Beach. Historic Portland Bill Lighthouse is two miles from the hotel. The Portland Museum is nearby and the cottage where the museum is located was the inspiration behind the novel The Well-Beloved, written by Thomas Hardy.
