"A marvel of modern luxury in Marrakesh", says The Independent of the Taj Palace hotel, while Travel + Leisure praises its "sheer grandeur". Stay at this ultra-luxurious resort, nominated for no fewer than four gongs at the upcoming World Travel Awards**, for £299 per person -- that's up to 59% less than we've seen elsewhere.
Depart on select dates from 28 September, 2014-25 March, 2015. Travel in August for £130 more. See Luxury Holiday Collection's website for a full list of departures.
Set in the exclusive Palmeraie region of Marrakesh, across 55 hectares of landscaped gardens, the hotel is overlooked by the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and surrounded by palm trees and olive groves.
The theme is "Arabian Nights glamour", according to The Independent, and Travel + Leisure agrees: look out for "Swarovski-bedazzled curtains, Indian textiles and a mint's worth of gold leaf", as well as hundreds of antique Berber rugs.
There are six restaurants and bars, ranging from a pan-Asian restaurant with a show kitchen to the Bombay Club, which has an extensive cognac and cigar menu. The hotel also has a spa with two hammams, a yoga temple and Moroccan treatments.
The opulent bedrooms -- which appeared in "Sex and the City 2" -- are spread over the main palace and four traditional riads. Each has a separate dressing room, a terrace, a flat-screen TV and an espresso coffee machine.
