The Montenegrin riviera is a "stunning region" of "mountain-backed beaches […] UNESCO-preserved towns, glittering fjords, Roman ruins and Venetian churches," says The Sunday Times. At £399 per person, this week-long all-inclusive holiday at a beachfront hotel with a backdrop of forested peaks is up to 35% less than usual.
Depart from Manchester on 5 April; 7 May; or from London (Gatwick, Luton or Stansted), Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh or Glasgow on select dates from 1 April-9 May; 12-24 October. Travel in June and September from £449 per person.
Fly from Leeds Bradford from £429 per person, Bristol from £479 per person, or Doncaster or Newcastle from £549 per person.
Set on a private beach, the hotel is in the town of Bijela, overlooking the Bay of Kotor and surrounded by parkland. As well as a terrace restaurant with sea views, it has an outdoor pool and a rooftop spa. Most bedrooms have a balcony, and all come with free Wi-Fi.
Take a drive around the bow-tie-shaped Bay of Kotor – "the road comes so close to the edge, waves lap at your tyres", says The Sunday Times. If you continue on to Perast Old Town, you'll find the steps to Our Lady of the Rosary church, which has panoramic views of the bay.
We also recommend a visit to UNESCO World Heritage Site Kotor, which is a 40-minute drive from the hotel. Described as "achingly atmospheric" by Lonely Planet, the town has cobblestone squares, medieval architecture, a 17th-century palace and fortified walls.
