Vietnam was tipped for big things in 2012 by National Geographic and Condé Nast Traveller, and we've since seen a spike in the number of deals for this destination. But one that also includes a visit to Cambodia's Angkor Wat, described as a "trip of a lifetime" by The Daily Telegraph, plus a host of other extras, is a rare find -- tick off both for £1544 per person.

This comprehensive tour is 55% cheaper than usual. Here's what you get:

  • Return flights from Manchester to Siem Reap, Cambodia, with checked luggage
  • Three nights at the Wooden Angkor Hotel or similar in Siem Reap
  • Two nights at the Cardamom Hotel or similar in Phnom Penh
  • Two nights at the Signature Saigon Hotel or similar in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Internal flight to Hanoi, Vietnam
  • One night at the Saigon Halong Hotel or similar in Halong
  • Full-board Halong Bay cruise
  • One night at the Monkey Island Resort on Cat Ba Island, with all meals
  • Three nights at the Meracus Hanoi Hotel in Hanoi

The package also includes all transfers by private car, the services of local, English-speaking guides and travel by express bus for longer-distance journeys.

In Siem Reap, you'll visit the temples of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site "matched by only a few select spots on Earth", according to Lonely Planet. We've been and we loved the tree-strangled temples of Ta Prohm within the Angkor Wat complex.

You'll also cruise around stunning Halong Bay, with its 3000 limestone islands, deserted sandy beaches and floating villages, on a luxury junk boat. The bay featured in the James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies". Other highlights include a boat ride on the Tonle Sap lake in Siem Reap, a full-day tour of Phnom Penh, a trip to the Cu Chi tunnels, where the Viet Cong lived during the Vietnam War, and a traditional water puppet show.

The Wooden Angkor Hotel and Meracus Hanoi Hotel both won a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice award this year.

Travel until April, 2014, from London Heathrow or Gatwick.

It's £145 less per person to depart from London Gatwick on the same dates, or an additional £155 per person to depart from 9 December-8 January.
