Fishmore Hall Hotel is an elegantly restored Georgian manor house set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, just outside the picturesque market town of Ludlow. Enjoy a 6-course tasting menu for two people at the hotel's Michelin-recommended Forelles restaurant for less than £30 a head -- that's half the usual price.
The "Taste of the Marches" menu usually costs £59 per person. It changes seasonally, but here's an example of the current spring-summer menu:
- Smoked salmon with apple and yoghurt textures
- Foie gras with walnut toast
- John Dory with oyster, chervil and parmesan gnocchi
- Slow-roasted fillet of beef with oxtail wellington, glazed shallots, wild mushrooms and a Madeira jus
- A selection of local cheese
- Dark chocolate and orange delice
An alternative vegetarian tasting menu is also available for two people with this offer, for £50 (half the usual price). If only one of your couple is vegetarian, please purchase the standard voucher at £59 and mention that one person is vegetarian to the restaurant when booking your meal.
With two AA Rosettes to its name, Forelles at Fishmore Hall Hotel is praised in the AA restaurant guide for its "modern and exciting food" and is recommended in the Michelin Guide 2011. A former runner-up in the Observer Food Awards, it is noted in an Observer review for its "immaculately presented" and "delicious" cuisine; the Telegraph agrees, awarding the venue 4/5.
