The red carpet out ready for our arrival. (All right it wasn't just for us - there was a Wedding Fayre in progress.) A beautiful building being very tastefully refurbished ready to be the premier Wedding/Function Venue in the area. I look forward to seeing the work once it has all been completed, it promises to be a really stunning venue.

This is a work in progress premises, but the work does not detract from the superb setting. The dining room was very tastefully decorated, light and airy, with quality comfortable chairs. There were complimentary freshly baked breads, oils and olives served before the meal plus some "Amuse Buches". These were all very tasty. An excellent choice of Starters, Main Courses and Sweets, to cover all tastes. All plates came with good sized portions of very well presented quality food. The staff were all young, very smartly uniformed dressed and all very helpful. This was a real delight and we look forward to returning. The icing on the cake was following Sunday Lunch we were invited to have a tour of the Abbey and grounds. On entering the old Chapel we were serenaded by Linda Tolchard, a lady with exquisite Soprano voice, with that voice in those beautiful surroundings and such super acoustics, it rounded off a brilliant visit.

Venue is stunning

The fact that although it has become a hotel and wedding venue, it was a nunnery not long ago and there is real respect for that. It is just a stunning series of buildings and beautifully looked after. Everything was so clean. You definitely have to visit the toilets!

If you haven't been and you enjoy good food in a stunning location with lots of history, you must add it to your list of places to visit.
