Improve your culinary skills or learn new ones with a full-day, hands-on cookery masterclass on the Camber seafront, that will teach you a range of techniques for mastering fish and meat dishes, for £65.
The Beach Bistro at The Gallivant Hotel is offering a choice of two inspiring courses for this superb offer, both including a 3-course gourmet feast and wine. Usually £135, here's what you get:
Boat to Plate:
- Meet hosts and other guests with a welcome tea or coffee and a light Gallivant breakfast
- A coach will take you to meet local fishermen at the famous Rye Fishmarket, where you can ask questions and learn more about the coast's fish. You will also pick something off the slab to cook back at the bistro
- Tea/coffee served with a Gallivant treat
- Masterclass demonstration: Watch the head chef transform fish sourced earlier in the day into tasty dishes that can be cooked easily at home. From simple preparation to more elaborate cooking techniques, you will get hands-on and work with the fish yourself. You will also get to taste your newly mastered dishes and recipe sheets will be supplied
- Break: Enjoy a 20-minute stroll along the beach while the chefs finish preparing a delicious fish feast
- Late afternoon lunch: Enjoy a 3-course fish and shellfish meal, served with a glass of wine
Field to Plate:
Includes the above schedule. You will be taken to meet one of the local butchers or farmers, where you can ask questions and learn more about the locally reared meat. You will then pick something out of the cold store to take back and cook. When back at the hotel, you will discover how to work confidently with different types of meat and reinvent some classic dishes, before you sit down to a 3-course feast, served with a glass of wine.
This offer is valid for courses taking place on 19* and 26 January; 3, 6 and 27 February; 2, 12, 16, 19 and 30 March; 23 and 30 April; and 7 and 14 May, 2012. *The course on 19 January is a Shoot to Plate special course for cooking with game.
Both courses last approximately six hours, including the afternoon meal.
