The Deal

Soar above the Oxfordshire countryside with a gliding taster session at Bicester Gliding Centre. For £39, Travelzoo subscribers can experience two consecutive winch-launched glider lessons, and spend up to 20 minutes in the air overall.


Participants will get a full presentation and safety briefing before settling into the glider and preparing for take off. Once airborne, the instructor will demonstrate the controls before giving you the chance to take over. The dual controlled 2-seater gliders can reach heights of up to 1400 feet and hit speeds of 70mph in a matter of seconds.

After landing, be prepared to do it all again as the glider is pushed back into position and launched for the second time.

Winch launching involves the glider being pulled into the air by 2000 feet of steel cable. Bicester Airfield was established in 1917 and retains authentic hangars and a pre-WWII bomb store -- all English Heritage listed buildings.

Terms and Conditions: This voucher is valid for one person to have two winch-launched gliding lessons. Bookings must be made by 28 February. Valid until 30 June. Both flights take place within the one booked appointment. A 48-hour cancellation policy applies -- less than 48 hours' notice of cancellation will not be rebooked. A £15 administration fee applies to date amendments at the company's discretion. Valid Monday to Friday, first booking 9:30am, last booking 3:45pm. Customers are advised to contact Bicester Gliding Centre between 8:30-9:00 on the morning of their flights for a weather check; if lessons are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, customers have 14 days in which to rebook another date within the validity of their voucher. Customers must arrive 30 minutes before booked time. For safety reasons, customers must have a good understanding of English to fly. Must be 14 or older: under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum weight 16 stone (100kg); maximum height 6ft 2in (188cm). Customers must sign a health declaration prior to flying; not suitable for those with insulin dependent diabetes, serious heart conditions, dizziness, epilepsy or fainting, breathlessness at rest, nervous disorders or any other serious illness that could be hazardous when flying. No alcohol may be consumed before flying. Cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion. Additional vouchers may be purchased as gifts for others. Failure to turn up leads to forfeiture of this voucher. There is no limit to the number of vouchers that can be purchased per person or as gifts.
