The family-run Beech Hill Country House Hotel was built in 1729 set in woodland filled with ponds and waterfalls. It was runner up in the Hotel & Accommodation category at the Northern Ireland Tourist Board Awards 2012. The hotel has free Wi-Fi throughout, a museum dedicated to WWII (US marines were based here) and a restaurant. Bill Clinton liked his stay so much, he stayed there four times.
The set-menu dinner ranges from creamy saffron risotto Milanese style and terrine of Irish ham hock, to poached haddock with buttery colcannon potatoes and grilled fillet of beef with wild mushrooms.
The walled city of Londonderry is a 5-minute drive away. It is also less than a 10-minute drive from Learmount Forest and Banagher Fores, and just over an hour's drive from one of Europe's natural wonders, the Giant's Causeway.
Additional nights on a bed-and-breakfast basis are available for £60 per room, per night.
