It's very attractive location near to local shops, variety of eating places, river walks, railway museum, old churches.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was self serve for cereals, juice, toast, fresh pastries and croissants, yogurts, fresh fruit, etc but cooked options were prepared to order. We enjoyed a lovely Welsh cream tea in the hotel one afternoon. In the evening we ate in The Stables which belongs to the hotel but is an adjacent building, more of a pub and more relaxed than the restaurant although the setting of the restaurant was very attractive.

The location and setting was fantastic, staff were always seen to be busy cleaning and making sure everything was pleasing to the eye, which it was. Bathroom was done a high standard, although 2 lights in there didn't work, and perhaps a more powerful shower.

With the hotel being less than half full, I would of liked to see a little more given in the way of maybe an upgrade to a better quality room. Food wise, pretty much below average, we had an evening meal in The Grill. My partner had a slow roasted piece of Lamb which managed to still stay bloody on the inside?!? Quite an achievement, but no Jus or even a mention on the menu description of any accompanying vegetables. I myself had the slow roasted belly pork, again with no mention of anything with it. Like typical folk, we then ordered some chips and onion rings to go along. Only to be served up with mash and a big pile of vegetables quite unexpectedly. Both of these served up on nearly warm plates, helping the meal go colder quicker. Breakfast was not much better, for an area famous for walking and outdoor activities, I would of thought a full breakfast would of consisted more of than just 1 piece of bacon, 1 chippolata style sausage, 1 fried egg, 1 hash brown and undercooked black pud
