The Deal

Praised by the AA Restaurant Guide for its "creative combinations and ambitious cooking", Lovelady Shield Country House Hotel is now offering Travelzoo subscribers a 7-course tasting menu for two plus a glass of champagne each for £65 instead of the usual £128.

The restaurant is located in a former 13th-century former convent in Cumbria, on the banks of the River Nent, and holds two AA Rosettes.

The tasting dinner changes depending on seasonal availability, but the current menu includes:

- Confit duck, cherry spheres and purée, cress oil and smoked duck crisps
- Celeriac velouté with truffle oil
- Battered cod cheek, straw potato, mushy peas and tartare sauce
- Passion fruit sorbet
- Pan-fried rare mature beef rib-eye, slow-braised faggot, bullshot jelly, champ and thyme-roasted carrots
- A selection of local cheeses
- Dark chocolate and ginger tart, pear mousse and poire William syrup
- Freshly brewed coffee

A selection of gourmet wines -- to complement the tasting menu -- can be purchased for an additional charge of £24.75 per person (payable at the restaurant).

This offer is valid any day of the week, subject to availability, until 31 July.
