The Deal

For £49, savour a 2-course meal for two and a glass of champagne each at celebrity chef Richard Phillips's Hengist, which currently holds two AA Rosettes and is praised by the Michelin Guide for its "accomplished modern cooking" and "elegantly appointed" interior.

Set in a Grade II-listed building in Aylesford, Kent, Richard Phillips took ownership of Hengist in 2004, following the success of his first award-winning restaurant, Thackeray's.

The meal for two includes any two courses from the à la carte menu and a glass of champagne each, worth up to £83.70

Choose from:
- Starters like roast diver-caught scallops with Jerusalem artichokes and cockle and brown butter sauce; Kentish ham hock, wood pigeon and foie grois layers; or natural smoked haddock and clam chowder
- Main courses like roast haunch of venison with potato and turnip gratin, and venison and spiced honey jus scented with beetroot; pan-fried wild sea bass fillet with green herb crusted butter bean and wild mushroom cassoulet; or roast Kentish lamb saddle with bacon and sage layered potato, green olives and lamb jus
- Desserts like dark chocolate and honey parfait; victoria plum soufflé with nutmeg espuma and pink prosecco sorbet; and bread and butter pudding with caramelised banana and whisky ice cream
