The Deal

A 3-course meal for two people with a glass of bubbly each is available for less than £15 a head with this fantastic offer from the White Horse in Hertingfordbury. Available for lunch or dinner until the end of January, 2012, the offer includes:

- Glass of bubbly each on arrival

- Any two starters -- we're tempted by the crispy bacon, black pudding and potato salad with a soft poached egg, and the crayfish cocktail with lemon mayonnaise

- Any two main courses, such as steak with parsley butter and hand cut chips, a comforting fish pie, or a summery salad of grilled peppers, goats' cheese, walnut and honey dressing

- Any two desserts, like baked lemon cheesecake or a chocolate brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce

The White Horse is a small local hotel with a pretty Georgian facade and an oak-beamed interior dating back 400 years. You could eat outside in the sunny garden or in the recently refurbished dining room. The little village of Hertingfordbury retains its rural feel but is easily reached from the A414 and is only a 10-minute drive from the centre of Hertford.
